What was the first music single you bought for yourself?
|
Not sure if this question has come up before but was having a bit of a clear out and have come across a load of old vinyl's and cassette tapes (yes tapes!!). Found a load that the folks bought me, although a 7-10 year old boy listening to Elvis, Bill Haley and the Comets and Abba is a little stretched across the spectrum!!
Anyway also found the first single I ever bought with my own money which is "Hymn" by Ultravox back in probably 1982 ish. It still sadly has the Woolworths sticker on it!!
What was the first single you purchased with you own cash?

I can't remember. I was always buying albums.
I think it may have been Europe, 7 doors hotel. Brought way before the Final Countdown.
Still a killer tune now!

First single I ever got was 'Here We Go' by the Everton football team for the FA Cup Final '1985 i think.
My sister somehow thought because I liked football I'd like that.
To be fair, she bought two singles, that and 'We are the World'... I wasn't gonna have the bumder on my record player.
